  • CCSU Wins Pair of Dual Meets At Southern Connecticut

    The Central Connecticut State University swimming and diving team picked up a pair of dual meet victories this afternoon, defeating Sacred Heart 98-40 and topping Southern Connecticut 77-63 in New Haven. Freshmen Taylor Friedmann and Katie Lang recorded two first place finishes each to lead the Blue Devils on Sunday.

    Friedmann won the 400 freestyle and the 1,000 free.  She took the 400 in a time of 4:03.97, while touching in at 10:27.54 in the 1,000. Lang earned gold medalist honors in the 200 freestyle and the 50 butterfly.  She recorded times of 1:58.37 and 27.50 seconds, respectively.

    Sophomore Alex Czaplicki was the only other Blue Devil to win an individual event on Sunday, finishing first in the 100 free in a time of 54.98 seconds.  She also took second in the 400 backstroke, touching in at 4:35.95.  Fellow sophomore Kristen Malski grabbed a pair of silver medalist finishes in the breaststroke events.  She finished the 50 breast in 31.80 and recorded a time of 5:18.77 to take second in the 400 breast.

    Senior Kristen Rossi saw her first action of the season on Sunday.  She led the CCSU diving unit with a second and a fourth place finish. The Southington, CT native recorded scores of 201.15 and 173.80 in the one-meter and three-meter events, respectively.

    The Blue Devils will next be in action on Saturday, November 7 when they head New Hampshire for dual meet competition beginning at 1:00 p.m.
