Petrella jumped past two players in the CCSU annals this afternoon, taking over the top spot in the program's single-season digs rankings

Central Connecticut (19-5, 4-0) remained unbeaten in Northeast Conference play with a 3-1 home win over St. Francis (PA), which dropped to 9-19 overall and 3-2 in league action.  With her fifth dig of the match, Kaitlin Petrella became CCSU's all-time single-season leader in digs.  The freshman, who finished with 26 digs in the match, has 494 in her first year as a Blue Devil.  Classmates Lauren Snyder and Amanda Bayer, meanwhile, led the team's offense in the win.  Snyder had 17 kills and six service aces, while Bayer had 52 assists and five kills.

The Blue Devils opened the match with a 30-22 win.  They never trailed en route to the win.  Snyder had six kills, while Bayer totaled 15 assists.  Petrella set the record in the game, picking up her fifth dig late.  As a team, Central Connecticut hit .500, posting 17 kills against one error in 32 tries.

SFPA responded with a 30-26 victory to even the match.  Central Connecticut led early and had a 19-18 advantage before the Red Flash took the win.  With the score tied at 25-25, St. Francis (PA) posted five of the final six points.  Snyder, senior Katie Karkow and sophomore Jamie Baumert each had three kills for the Blue Devils.  Petrella again had five digs, while Bayer collected 10 assists.

Central Connecticut closed out the match with 30-18 and 30-22 wins.  The Blue Devils pulled away from a 10-10 tie in game four with an 11-2 run and did not trail in the match-clinching victory.  Senior Milou Saxton had a team-best five kills in the fourth game, while sophomore Sara Grona totaled six kills in game five.

In addition to the efforts of Petrella, Snyder and Bayer, Baumert and Saxton each had 10-kill performances.  Saxton, who hit .421, added four blocks.  Baumert, meanwhile, had a match-best seven blocks.  Grona added eight kills in 12 swings, posting a .667 attack percentage.

Sophomore Shirley Miller led the Red Flash with 15 kills and nine digs.  Classmate Rikki Myers had 47 assists and six digs in the loss.

Central Connecticut will continue conference play next weekend.  The team will travel to Long Island for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday, Nov. 3 before facing St. Francis (NY) at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4.
