The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped a 7-6 decision to Kansas in an afternoon game in Bradenton, FL on Thursday.  The morning game vs. UMBC was rained out.  The Blue Devils will play a doubleheader vs. Illinois on Friday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m.  In the loss to Kansas senior Jak Kidd had two hits, including a double, and drove in two as CCSU fell to 2-9 on the season.

Kansas took a 1-0 lead with a single run in the top of the second inning off of Blue Devil starter Derek Roberts.  Central Connecticut responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead.

Anthony Scialdone walked to lead off the inning and went to second on a balk.  He advanced to third on a groundout by Kidd and then scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 1-1.  Sophomore Kyle Zarotney reached on an error by the third baseman and went to second on a groundout.  He scored on the second error of the inning by the Jayhawks to make it 2-1.

Kansas scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning to retake the lead, 3-2.  But Central Connecticut responded again with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to reclaim the 4-3 lead.

With one out in the inning Sean Miller-Jones singled through the left side and then advanced to second on a balk.  He went to third on a groundout and scored on a double by Scialdone down the left field line.  Kidd doubled to left center scoring Scialdone and giving CCSU the one run lead.

The Jayhawks took the lead for good with three runs in the top of the sixth inning, taking a 6-4 lead.  It stretched to 7-4 with a run in the seventh.

Central Connecticut scored one in the seventh and one in the eighth, getting to within one at 7-6, the eventual final score.  Kidd drove in the run in the seventh, his second RBI of the game, and Miller-Jones drove in one in the eighth for CCSU.

The Blue Devils, who were rained out earlier in the day against UMBC, will play two games vs. Illinois starting at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
