The Central Connecticut baseball team had its seven-game winning
streak snapped with a 5-0 home loss to Fairfield on Sunday.
Central had beaten the Stags on Friday and Saturday. With the loss
the Blue Devils are now 17-13-1 overall on the season. They play
again on Tuesday hosting UMass beginning at 3 p.m.
Fairfield took a 4-0 in the first inning. They had five doubles and brought nine batters to the plate while chasing Central freshman starter Tom Coughlin from the game with two outs in the inning.
Neither team would score a run until the Stags made it 5-0 in the top of the eighth inning. With a man on third, Chris Horning's RBI single increased the Fairfield lead.
Sophomore Tyler McIntyre was the only Blue Devils with more than one hit on the day. He finished the day 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
After Coughlin left the game in the first inning for the Blue Devils, junior Roy Natoli pitched 5.1 innings of relief, allowing just a pair of base runners on two hits, and striking out three.
The Blue Devils return to action at home on Tuesday hosting UMass beginning at 3 p.m.
