The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped to 1-5 on the season with a 10-6 loss on the road at Temple on Friday afternoon.  Junior Tyler McIntyre provided the offensive punch, hitting his first home run of the season.

Temple improves to 4-8 on the season with the victory.

Temple got on the board quickly with three runs and four hits against Central junior starter Todd Savatsky in the bottom of the first inning.  They added another run in the second inning to make it 4-0.

The Blue Devils scored a pair of runs in the third inning to cut the lead in half, 4-2.  Sophomore Josh Ingham walked to lead off the inning and went to third when senior Jake Matuszak doubled.  Ingham scored the first run of the day for Central on a sacrifice fly off the bat of sophomore Dylan DelaCruz.  Matuszak scored to make it 4-2 on a sacridice fly from senior Mitch Wells.

Central took a 5-4 lead in the fourth inning on a three-run home run from McIntyre.  It was his first long ball of the season.  Temple tied it at 5-5 in the bottom of the inning.

Savatsky pitched 4.2 innings allowing five runs, all earned, and eight hits while striking out three and walking one.  Freshman Casey Brown came in to record the final out of the fifth inning.

The Owls would score three runs off Brown, two of them earned, in the fifth and sixth innings to take an 8-5 lead.

Central answered in the seventh, loading the bases with one out, and scoring their sixth run on a sacrifice fly from sophomore J.P. Sportman.

Two more runs for Temple in the eighth made it 10-6.

Brown pitched the final 4.1 innings allowing five runs, four earned, and four hits while striking out three. 

Ingham had two hits to lead the offense, he also scored twice.  McIntrye's home run was the third of the season for the Blue Devils.

Central will stay in Philadelphia and play at St. Joseph's University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
