Senior Harry Glynne threw a complete-game four-hit shutout, while striking out seven batters, as the Central Connecticut baseball team topped Mount St. Mary's 9-0 on Thursday afternoon.  The game is the first in a four-game Northeast Conference series between the two teams.

With the victory Central moves to 25-22 on the year, and 16-13 in NEC action.  It marks the seventh straight season that the Blue Devils have posted at least 25 wins.  It is the 11th time in 13 years under head coach Charlie Hickey that the Blue Devils have reached that mark.

The Blue Devils took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on the seventh home run of the season from sophomore J.P. Sportman.  He leads the Blue Devils with 21 extra-base hits this season.

Senior Jake Matuszak pushed the lead to 3-0 with a sacrifice fly in the second inning.

The Blue Devils opened it up in the third inning.  They loaded the bases with no one out on three straight singles from Sportman, junior Tyler McIntyre and sophomore Dylan DelaCruz.  After a sacrifice fly from senior A.J. Lowers, sophomore Anthony Turgeon hit a three-run home run to make it 7-0.

Senior Danny Hickey recorded an RBI double in the top of the fifth inning to make it 8-0.  His double scored DelaCruz who had doubled to lead off the inning.

The ninth run scored on an RBI single from Sportman, his third RBI of the game.

Glynne's win pushes his record to 3-3 on the season.  He faced just 35 batters in the game, walking three, and striking out seven.

Sportman and Turgeon each drove in three runs in the victory.  Sportman added three hits and scored twice.

The Blue Devils and the Mount return to action on Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
