The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped a 6-2 decision in the series opener at High Point on Friday.  The game took just one hour and 59 minutes to play.  With the loss the Blue Devils are now 4-5 overall on the season.  The two teams will play again on Saturday and Sunday.

High Point struck first with three runs in the first inning and two more in the second off of Blue Devil sophomore starter Cody Brown.  A four-hit first inning scored three runs in the first before a double-play ended the inning.  In the second it was a pair of RBI singles by the Panthers that pushed the lead to 5-0.

The Blue Devils responded with two runs in the top of the third inning. Senior Mike Washburn singled with one out and went to second base on a walk by junior Anthony Turgeon.  Senior Bobby Migliazza singled home the first run of the game with a long drive to the left field wall.  Junior Dylan DelaCruz's sacrifice fly scored the second run to cut the Panther lead to 5-2.

The Panthers added a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to make it 7-2.

Central threatened in the ninth, putting runners on first and third with one out, but a pair of strikeouts ended the threat and gave High Point the victory.

Brown went seven innings allowing nine hits and six earned runs while striking out four High Point batters.  Classmate Jesse Frawley went the final inning and did not allow a run.

Migliazza and Washburn each had a pair of hits to lead the Central offense.  Migliazza added an RBI, as did DelaCruz.

The Blue Devils and Panthers will be back in action on Saturday with a single game at 2 p.m.
