Pair of Blue Devils Throw Out Pitches for New Britain Rockcats

Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann and head football coach Jeff McInerney each had the opportunity to throw at the first pitch at recent New Britain Rockcat games.

Members of the Central athletics family regularly have the opportunity to pair with the Rockcats for several different events throughout the summer.

McInerney threw out the first pitch on Saturday night, two weeks before the first game of the season for the Blue Devils.  As he has done for the past couple of years, McInerney threw out the first "football" prior to the game.

Schlickmann threw out the first pitch this past Wednesday night.

The Rockcats and CCSU held "CCSU Night" on Wednesday, and the new Blue Devil mascot was also in attendance.  Prior to the game CCSU employees gave out new Central athletics static stickers, posters and wristbands to kids who entered the stadium for the game.

McInerney and the Blue Devils are just one week away from starting the 2011 season.  Central will host Southern Connecticut on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 12 noon at Arute Field.  The Blue Devils have the nation's second-longest home winning streak.  They have won 14 in a row at home.
