Hollomon Earns Gold Helmet Award

Central Connecticut football senior Rob Hollomon has added the Ray Gallant Insurance New England Football Writers' Gridiron Club of Great Boston Gold Helmet Award to his list of weekly accolades following his performance in Saturday's upset of #7 Towson.

Hollomon totaled 280 all-purpose yards in Saturday's victory. The Preseason All-American posted 209 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns against a team that advanced to the NCAA FCS Championship Game last season.

Hollomon, who had a long run of 74 yards earlier in the game, plunged in from one yard out to give CCSU a 31-27 lead with 00:36 remaining on the clock. His first touchdown of the game, a 3-yard run, broke a 14-14 tie with under 3:00 remaining in the third quarter.

Hollomon, who is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing campaigns, ran the ball 23 times for 161 yards. In addition to averaging 7.0 yards per carry on the ground, Hollomon hauled in a game-high nine receptions for 48 yards.

Last season, Hollomon earned the Gold Helmet for his performance in CCSU's double-overtime loss to Lehigh in week two.
