Central Connecticut senior offensive lineman J'Von Brown was named to the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Third Team on Wednesday. Brown was also named to the Preseason All-Northeast Conference Team, while also earning a preseason All-America nod from Hero Sports earlier this summer. STATS PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA RELEASE

Brown is a two-time All-Northeast Conference First Team selection and was named a STATS FCS Preseason All-American, Athlon Preseason FCS All-America and Preseason All-Northeast Conference a season ago before having his season cut short to injury last season. Brown was a Second Team Stats FCS All-America selection as a junior in 2018 and helped anchor an offensive line that allowed the Blue Devils to post 289.3 rushing yards per game in six conference games in 2018.  They had 2,460 total rushing yards on the season and posted the nation's 21st best rushing attack at 223.6 yards per game on the ground.  They also allowed just 0.73 sacks per game on the year, the seventh best total in the entire country.  They allowed just eight sacks in 11 games.  The Blue Devils led the country allowing just 32 tackles for a loss in the entire season.

Brown earned All-Conference, All-ECAC and All-New England honors following the 2018 season and was also a member of the 2017 NEC championship squad.

The Northeast Conference has postponed all 2020 fall sports and the Council of Presidents will reconvene again by October 1 to evaluate the risks posed by COVID19 and competitive options moving forward.

The Blue Devils, who won the 2019 NEC league title, went 11-2 in 2019 and were tabbed as the league's unanimous preseason favorite. Central was also among the schools also receiving votes in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 preseason poll

CCSU finished the 2019 season ranked No. 23 in the final Stats Perform FCS Top 25 in 2019. Central is coming off a season in which it won a school-record 11 games and tied the school-record with eight-straight wins to end the regular season, finishing the regular season 11-1 with their only loss coming on the road to FBS member Eastern Michigan. The Blue Devils earned its second trip to the FCS playoffs where its season ended at Albany in the first round. CCSU also had six road wins, tied for the most in the nation, while posting an unblemished NEC record.
