Three Newcomers Lead Finishers in 13th Annual Blue Devil Run on Wednesday

Three newcomers finished in the top three spot in the 13th annual Blue Devil run on Wednesday afternoon in New Britain. The Blue Devil Run takes place over a 3.7 mile course in New Britain adjacent to the Central Connecticut campus. Sophomore transfer Vince Rosario finished first in a time of 24:31 followed closely by freshmen Kyle Desmarais (24:58) and Robby Ptacek (26:01).

Nine of the 10 Blue Devils who ran the race, Shemik Thompson and Chris Baskerville were excused from the race, finished in under 30 minutes. Sophomore Ross Pentland was fourth (26:08) followed by sophomore Aaron Hall (26:35), junior Joe Seymore (26:50), sophomore Ken Horton (27:07), senior Marcus Palmer (28:31) and sophomores David Simmons (29:57) and Tamir Johnson (32:25).

A pair of assistant coaches also ran in the run. Kevin Papacs finished in 26:26 anf Steve Curran finished in a time of 27:11.

The Blue Devil Run has been an annual event at the official beginning of the basketball season since head coach Howie Dickenman took over the men's basketball program 13 years ago.

The Blue Devils begin practice for the 2008-09 season on Friday night in New Britain. The first game of the season will take place on the road at Boston College on Friday night, November 14 at 6 p.m.
