Men's Hoop Picked in Tie for Fourth in Preseason NEC Coaches Poll

Following a 14-16 record a year ago the Central Connecticut men's basketball team was picked to finish in a tie for fourth place in the preseason Northeast Conference Coaches Poll released on Wednesday morning. The Blue Devils were picked in a tie for fourth with Fairleigh Dickinson. Mount St. Mary's, the 2008 NEC Champion, was picked to repeat by the NEC coaches. Sacred Heart was second and Robert Morris was third.

CCSU finished 10-8 in the NEC last season and advanced to the NEC Tournament for the 10th straight season, falling to Sacred Heart in the first round in Fairfield.

Following the Blue Devils and FDU in the preseason poll is Long Island, Quinnipiac, Wagner, Monmouth, St. Francis (NY) and St. Francis (PA).

The Blue Devils did not have a selection to the preseason All-NEC team. Sean Baptiste (FDU), Jeremy Goode (Mount St. Mary's), Jeremy Chappell (Robert Morris), Jaytornah Wisseh (Long Island) and Joey Henley (Sacred Heart) were selected by the league coaches for the 2008 NEC preseason team.

CCSU opens the season on Friday night, November 14 at 6 p.m. at Boston College before opening its home schedule on Monday, November 17 at 7 p.m. vs. Colgate.
