Blue Devils Picked Fifth; Junior Ken Horton Named to Pre-Season All-Conference Team But Will Miss the 2009-10 Season

The Central Connecticut State University men's basketball team was picked to finish fifth in the Northeast Conference preseason coaches poll, announced on Wednesday. Junior forward Ken Horton, one of the top scorers in the league last season and a second-team All-NEC selection, was chosen to the preseason All-Conference Team. It was also announced that Horton will sit out the 2009-10 season because of an injury. The Blue Devils open the season on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Connecticut 6 Classic in Bridgeport, CT against Fairfield.

Horton finished last season averaging 16.5 points per game and was named second team All-NEC. He also averaged 5.8 rebounds and posted 44 blocks, both team-highs. He started 26 of his 28 games played in his sophomore season and averaged 34.1 minutes played per game. He will redshirt this season and have two seasons of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2010-11 season.
