Horton was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week
for the fifth time this season on Monday. Horton has been honored
three straight weeks, four of the last five and five times overall
this season. The Blue Devils went 1-1 last week with a win over
Sacred Heart and a loss to Quinnipiac on Saturday. Horton has now
scored in double-figures in 22 straight games for the Blue Devils.
Central returns to action on Thursday night at St. Francis (NY) at
Horton's game is peaking at just the right time for the Blue Devils. In taking home his third straight Choice Hotels NEC Player of the Week honor and fifth of the season, Horton averaged 26.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 3.0 blocks and 1.5 steals. He made 55.2 percent of his shots from the field and 58.3 percent (7-12) from long distance.
In Thursday's 57-56 win over Sacred Heart, Horton made 5-7 shots from long range and finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a pair of blocks. Two days later he scored more than half his team's points in a 68-67 setback to Quinnipiac. Horton finished with a career-high 35 points, making 10-19 from the floor and 13-14 from the stripe, to go along with four rejections.
The native of Ossining, NY currently leads the NEC with 10 double-doubles, 19.7 ppg and 1.7 bpg. He is also second in rebounding (8.8 rpg), fourth in free throw percentage (.857), and seventh in field goal percentage (.495) and steals (1.6 spg).
