Peel Wins 20th Annual Blue Devil Run

Senior Brandon Peel won the 20th Annual Blue Devil run with a time of 26:00 on Tuesday afternoon in New Britain.  The annual event marks the unofficial start of the 2015-16 men's basketball season.

The Blue Devil run has been an annual event since head coach Howie Dickenman took over the men's basketball program 20 seasons ago.  The run is an approximately 3.7 mile course adjacent to the Central campus.

Central hosts the annual CT6 Classic to open the season this year and will play Hartford at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, in William H. Detrick Gymnasium.

Peel's time of 26:00 narrowly edged freshman Austin Nehls who finished second at 26:01, followed by sophomores Kevin Seymour and Shakaris Laney who finished in 27:06 and 27:13, respectively.  Freshman Jahlil Nails finished in 27:50 to place fifth and classmate Evan Phoenix was sixth in a time of 28:02.

Sophomore Mustafa Jones finished seventh with a time of 28:06, followed by junior JJ Cratit (30:06) and junior Tidell Pierre (30:47). Junior George Davis III clocked in at 31:21 and was followed by junior Khalen Cumberlander (31:39), Malik Toppin (31:47) and Malcolm Simmons (32:11).

Freshman Eric Bowles did not participate in the run.
