Men's Basketball Welcomes LIU Brooklyn to Detrick Gym Saturday
Central Connecticut hosts defending NEC champion, LIU Brooklyn, Saturday afternoon at Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils are coming off a last-second loss at Bryant, 63-60, on Thursday. The Blackbirds will be looking to bounce back after falling at Mount St. Mary's, 74-72. The game will be streamed live and will be archived on www.NECFrontRow.com. Bruce Biel (play-by-play) and Marc Robbins (analyst) call the action all season long.
 
Tickets for CCSU home games can be purchased at CCSUTickets.com or at the box office upon entry to Kaiser Hall and Detrick Gymnasium. Admission for all CCSU students, faculty and staff is free of charge with a valid Blue Chip card.

The Blue Devils fell at Bryant after SaBastian Townes hit a three-pointer with 7.4 seconds to play. Tyler Kohl posted his third double-double of the year and four Blue Devils scored in double-figures. Jamir Coleman scored in double-figures for the third straight game, while Deion Bute added 11 points and a career-high three blocked shots. Kashaun Hicks scored 12 points in the first half.
 
The Blackbirds rallied from 10 points down in the second half, but its last-second chance to tie the game was off the mark. Raiquan Clark had 22 points and leads the NEC in scoring at 21.7 points per game. Eral Penn and Julian Batts  each had 12 points.

NOTES FROM THE BRYANT GAME • CCSU had four players reach double-figures for the eighth time this season and is 6-2 in those contests...Tyler Kohl collected his third double-double of the year with 14 points, 10 rebounds...Jamir Coleman added 14 points and has reached double-digits in three straight games...Kashaun Hicks scored 12 points in the opening period and Deion Bute added 11 points and 7 rebounds...Central committed just 10 turnovers, its fourth game in NEC play with 10 or fewer...CCSU had a season-low six free throw attempts, but did convert five of them.
 
SUITS AND SNEAKERS WEEK • Coaches across the nation will wear sneakers with their suits this week to raise awareness for Coaches vs. Cancer and the fight against cancer. The National Association of Basketball Coaches teamed with the American Cancer Society over 25 years ago to form Coaches vs. Cancer. Since its inception, Coaches vs. Cancer has raised over $115 million. From 1991-2016, the cancer death rate fell 27%. That means more than 2.6 million deaths were avoided from 1991-2016.
  
UP NEXT • The Blue Devils will be home for two games next weekend. CCSU faces St. Francis Brooklyn on Thursday, Jan. 31, and Bryant on Saturday, Feb. 2. Central will then hit the road for four straight contests.
