Sophomore Greg Beloin led Central Connecticut State University in the first two rounds of action at the Connecticut Cup on Monday. He finished both rounds in three over par 75 to score 150 in day one of action. The Blue Devils are currently in ninth place out of 13 teams in competition at the Ellington Ridge Country Club.
Junior Sam Pelletier and freshman Dan Fanion carded scores of 154 and 155, respectively, during day one of play. Pelletier scored a 76 in round one and 78 in the second round to finish the first day in a tie for 37th. Fanion went out in 81 to open the tournament and then came back with CCSU's single best score of the tournament with a two over par 74 in round two. He is tied for 40th after one day of competition.
Junior Eric Hawerchuk and sophomore Kevin Josephson are tied for 54th heading into final day action on Tuesday. Hawerchuk carded 78 in round one and 81 in the second round, while Josephson opened with an 81 and finished with a 78 as they each scored 159 in day one.
CCSU's score of 615 was good for ninth place after two rounds, while UALR leads the way after carding a score of 575 in day one competition. The teams will finish play on Tuesday.
