The final round of the Northeast Collegiate Invitational was canceled due to inclement weather on Sunday. The Central Connecticut men's golf team finished in seventh place out of 11 teams at the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, RI. Sophomore Kevin Josephson led the Blue Devils, tying for 12th with a 77 in the single round of play.
Central recorded a team score of 315 on the par 71 course, finishing 14 strokes ahead of eighth place Long Island. The Blue Devils ended two strokes behind sixth place Siena and 13 behind host Rhode Island. The Rams won the team championship with a total of 302.
Josephson finished five strokes back of URI's Taylor Fontaine who earned medalist honors with a one over par 72 on Saturday. The Blue Devil sophomore shot 39 on the front nine and 38 on the back in Central's final tournament before the NEC Championships.
Juniors Justin Hughes and Eric Hawerchuk tied for 19th and 26th place, respectively. The former carded a 78 including a 37 on the back nine, while the latter finished one stroke back after scoring 79 (40-39) on Saturday.
Freshman Dan Fanion finished the only round of the weekend in 81 (40-41) and tied for 37th. Sophomore Greg Beloin rounded out the CCSU golfers, carding an 85 (45-40, tying for 46th.
