Men's Golf Competes In First Round Action at NEC Championships
Central Connecticut State University competed in first round
action at the Northeast Conference Men's Golf Championships on
Friday. The Blue Devils recorded a team score of 310 to finish the
first day tied for sixth place with Monmouth. Sophomore Kevin Josephson led
CCSU with a two over par 74 on the ChampionsGate Golf Course in
Orlando, FL.
The Blue Devils are currently 10 strokes back of Robert Morris, who
leads the way with a score of 300 after first round competition.
St. Francis (PA) is in second with a score of 303, while Mount St.
Mary's and Sacred Heart each shot 306 to tie for third. CCSU is
just two strokes behind Fairleigh Dickinson for fifth place.
Josephson recorded the best score for Central on Friday, carding a
74. The sophomore is tied for fifth and is only four strokes back
of St. Francis (PA)'s Joey Amelia, who leads with an opening round
70. Blue Devils sophomore Greg Beloin and junior Eric
Hawerchuk both shot under 80 on Friday. The former carded a 76
and is tied for 13th, while the latter recorded a score of 78 and
is tied for 21st.

Fanion rounded out CCSU golfers at the tournament. Hughes is
tied for 36th after shooting an opening round 82. Fanion is in
46th heading into second round action, carding an 85 for the first
18 holes.
