The Central Connecticut men's golf team wrapped up a solid weekend of stroke play at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate Golf Tournament in Verona, NY. After finishing 10th after the first day, the Blue Devils shot up the leaderboard on day two finishing in seventh place. The tournament spanned over two days this weekend (Sunday and Monday) and was hosted by the University of Missouri.
Central totaled a team score of 301 on the final day of the event (+34 for the tournament). The Blue Devils pushed passed the University of Connecticut and Binghamton University after trailing the two schools the previous day.
Senior Kevin Josephson made an impressive move to a fifth place tie after being tied for 11th the previous day. Josephson led the Blue Devils shooting a 74 and 68 in the first two rounds of play and a 71 on Monday giving him a 213 (-3) overall score.
Dan Fanion finished tied for 18th place after shooting 220 (+4) after three rounds. He shot a 72 in the first round followed by a 73 in round two. Monte Mullen finished tied for 36th with a 228. Ashley Crawford finished with a score of 242 and Daniel Morgan with a 248.
The Blue Devils return to action hosting the CCSU Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10-11 at Wetherfield Country Club.
