Blue Devils Climb to 5th Place Tie at NEC's
The Central Connecticut men's golf team climbed the Northeast Conference Championship leader board on Saturday jumping to a fifth place tie. Central (314/304/618) registered a team score of 304 in the second round of the tournament, a 10 stroke improvement from Friday's round.
Mount St. Mary's (297/303/600) still leads the field while Fairleigh Dickinson (301/308/609) remains second, tied with Sacred Heart (309/300/609). St. Francis (PA) (305/309/614) is in fourth place and Central stands tied with LIU Brooklyn (314/304/618) for fifth place.
Central leads seventh place Robert Morris (309/312/621) by three strokes and eighth place Monmouth (318/309/627) by nine strokes. Wagner (328/328/656) is in ninth place while St. Francis (NY) (345/343/688) is tenth.
The Blue Devils were led by junior Dan Fanion (75/75/150) and freshman Monte Mullen (77/75/152) on moving day at the NEC Tournament. Fanion stands tied for fifth individually and duplicated his first round score by marking down a 75 on his second round score card. Mullen followed suit also shooting a 75 on day two, good for an 11th place seat on the individual leader board.
Fanion made par an impressive 12 times on Saturday while recording birdies on the eighth and 14th holes. Mullen wrote in par 13 times and birdied the second hole.
