Blue Devils Tied for Sixth After Day One at Ryan T. Lee Intercollegiate

The Central Connecticut men's golf team sits in a tie for sixth place overall after the first round of the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Intercollegiate Golf Tournament on Saturday.  The tournament is being played at Hopmeadow Country Club in Simsbury, CT (par 72).  The Blue Devils shot a round one team score of 304 and are tied with Laval University.  Fordham leads the tournament with a team score of 284.

Sophomore Drew Aitken, playing as an individual, shot the best round of the day for the Blue Devils and fired a 72, two over par, and sits in a tie for eighth place overall in the 75 player field.  Classmate Arthur Ouimet fired a 74 to lead the five-player team field for CCSU. He is tied for 19th place overall. Freshman Thomas Downing shot a 75 in her first collegiate round and is tied for 28th place overall.

Freshman Nick Piersall shot a 77, followed by senior Anthony Sebastianelli (78) and freshman Joe Tucker (78) to round out the scoring for the Blue Devils on the afternoon.

Fordham leads the tournament with a score of 284, followed by Bentley (291), St. Peter's (292), Bryant (295) and Monmouth (301) rounding out the top five.

The Blue Devils are tied for sixth in the 13 team field.  

The second and final round will be played on Sunday morning.
