Men's Golf Tied for Fourth After Round One at Connecticut Cup

The Central Connecticut men's golf team shot a round one score of 296 and sits in a tie fourth place at the Connecticut Cup which began play on Monday.  Round two was suspended because of weather, and will resume on Tuesday.  The tournament is being held at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, CT, and is being hosted by the University of Connecticut.

Freshman Nick Piersall shot a round one score of 71 to lead the Blue Devils, who sit in fourth place after round one.  UConn leads with a score of 284, followed by Cornell (289), Rhode Island (291) and then CCSU and Lafeyette.  There are 15 teams in the field, including four Northeast Conference teams.  CCSU leads LIU Brooklyn (306), Sacred Heart (311) and Bryant (313).

Freshman Joe Tucker fired a 73 in the first round while senior Anthony Sebastianelli shot 75.  Senior Brandon Raine shot 77 and sophomore Arthur Ouimet fired a 78 for the Blue Devils.

The second and third rounds of the tournament will be completed on Tuesday.  The second round will continue with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
