Central Connecticut senior Robert Cavener was named to the All-North Atlantic Region Second Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, it is the third consecutive year that he has earned the honor. After earning a third team selection as a sophomore Cavener has been selected to the second team the last two seasons.
Cavener's was an All-Region selection at midfield his first two seasons, this season Cavener earned a spot in the backline after making the position change for the Blue Devils. Despite moving back a line Cavener's offense did not suffer in 2010. He led the team in points with 10. His four assists were a team-high and his three goals tied for the team lead.
Cavener has been honored for his performance on and off the field in 2010. Last month he was named First Team All-NEC for the second consecutive year, was selected to play for the Division I all-stars in the NEISL Senior Bowl, and was recognized as an ESPN/Academic All-District First Team selection.
In his career Cavner is a three time All-NEC selection, a three time NSCAA All-North Atlantic Region selection and and ESPN/Academic All-District selection. He was also a member of the 2007 Blue Devil team that won a pair of NCAA Tournament during their run to the third round of the NCAA Men's College Cup.
