NEC Releases Annual Preseason Men’s Soccer Poll

The Northeast Conference released its annual preseason poll of the league's men's soccer coaches on Wednesday afternoon.  The league's 11 coaches picked CCSU to finish 10th this season.

The Blue Devils have retooled this summer bringing in 16 new faces as they look to improve on their 2010 campaign.  Included in that group are several transfers with collegiate experience who should bolster the offense in 2011.

Regional power Monmouth was tabbed to finish on top of the league for the sixth straight season.  The Hawks were a unanimous selection in the poll.  Following Monmouth were Fairleigh Dickinson, Sacred Heart, St. Francis (PA), Long Island and Mount St. Mary's shared the fifth spot in the poll.  Quinnipiac, Robert Morris and St. Francis (NY) finished in a three-way-tie for seventh place, with Central and Bryant rounding out the poll.

The Blue Devils open the season with a home match against Vermont on August 26.  That game, and all CCSU men's soccer home games this season, will be played at Willow Brook Park and will kickoff at 7 p.m.
