Men's Soccer Drops Opener at Nike Classic

The Central Connecticut men's soccer team fell to Hartwick on Friday afternoon.  The match was the first contest of the New Hampshire Nike Classic.  The 1-0 loss drops the Blue Devils to 3-4 on the season.

The Blue Devils and Hartwick played even throughout the first half as the teams traded shots.  Hartwick posted five shots in the first half.  Central's junior keeper Anthony Occhialini recorded a pair of saves in the first half.

In the second half, the Blue Devils picked up their offensive attack.  Leading the squad were transfer students Alpha Dioubate and Thomas Obasi.

However, Hartwick was able to put the ball in the net during the 67th minute.  Hartwick's Will Broomfield passed to Tim Crawford on the right side of the box, and Crawford delivered a quick strike to the right corner of the net for the lone goal of the game.

The Blue Devils will return to action on Sunday when they face the United States Air Force Academy.  That will be both teams final game of the Nike Classic.
