Red Flash Top Men's Soccer 2-1

The Central Connecticut men's soccer team dropped to 5-9-2 overall and 1-4-1 in Northeast Conference play with a 2-1 loss on the road at St. Francis University on Sunday afternoon.  The Blue Devils have one game remaining this season, and will host Bryant on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.  Prior to the game the Blue Devils will honor their senior class.

Senior Zach Zurita scored the lone goal of the game for the Blue Devils on Sunday.

The Red Flash led 2-0 before the Blue Devils got on the board late in the second half.  Zurita took a pass from junior Juan Galarza and then found the back of the net from 15 yards out to cut the Red Flash lead in half.

St. Francis U led 1-0 at halftime after the first goal of the season from Pablo Medina.  Medina took a feed from Pedro Neto and beat Central senior goalkeeper Josef Abele for the game's first goal, giving the Red Flash the lead.

The lead reached 2-0 late in the second half when Medina fed Ryan Bowers for his sixth goal of the season with 5:16 left to play.  Central would add the late goal but the Red Flash would maintain their hold on first place in the NEC with the 2-1 victory.

St. Francis U held a 16-9 edge in shots, including 9-6 in shots on goal.  Abele would made seven saves in the game for the Blue Devils.  St. Francis U also held a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks in the match.
