Freshman Matt Berube placed fifth in the high jump and tenth in the triple jump, while the Central Connecticut men's track and field team competed in the Yale Collegiate Classic on Saturday. The Southington, CT native recorded a height of 1.89 meters in the high, while jumping 12.55 meters in the triple. The Blue Devils finished their first day of competition in 2009 with nine top ten finishes in New Haven.
Fellow freshman Nick Trifone finished sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.84 meters. Senior Sean Smith led the sprinting squad with a tenth place finish in the 60 meter dash, crossing the line in 7.12 seconds in both the prelims and finals. Juniors Ry Sanderson and R.J. Simeone, as well as sophomore Robert Weston were the top Blue Devil finishers in the distance events. Sanderson placed sixth in the 3,000 meter run besting his previous personal record by 12 seconds, timing in at 8:36.08. The Bantam, CT native was only three seconds off the CCSU record in the indoor 3,000m. Simeone finished ninth in the 800 meters, timing in at 1:57.94, while Weston took home tenth in the one mile run with a finishing time of 4:36.00.
The CCSU 4x800m relay and 4x400m relay teams finished seventh
and ninth, respectively. The 4x800m team of Matthew

Katz and Dan
Watson recorded a time of 8:10.09. The 4x400m team of Smith,
Mason and Nick
Rosa finished in 3:25.35.
