The Central Connecticut men's track and field team competed in the Disney Invitational over the weekend at Walt Disney World's Wide World of Sports complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Seven Blue Devil student-athletes qualified for final heat competition, including Matt Berube who placed in three events. The freshman took third in both the high and triple jump, while placing fourth in the long jump. Berube recorded a distance of 7.0 meters in the long, while jumping 1.92 and 14.12 meters in the high and triple jump, respectively.
Juniors Ry Sanderson and R.J. Simeone each placed second in their respective events. Sanderson was runner-up in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:13.46, while Simeone crossed the line in 1:56.44 to place second in the 800 meters. Sophomore Robert Weston was right behind Sanderson in the 1500, placing third in 4:14.35. Seniors Clinton DePaolo and Sean Smith, as well as freshman Dionis White were the other CCSU competitors to make it to final heat competition. DePaolo did so in the 110 meter high hurdles. Smith and White qualified in the 400 and 200 meters, respectively. The Central Connecticut 4x800 meter relay and Distance Medley Relay team's both placed second in the meet.
The Blue Devils will next be competing in the UConn Invitational on Saturday April 4.
