The Central Connecticut State University men's track and field team competed in its first action of the year as they traveled to nearby Yale University to take part in the Yale Collegiate Invitational on Saturday. Freshman Aaron Radden was the top performer for the Blue Devils in the unscored meet, placing second in the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.04 seconds.

Sophomores Matt Berube and Rashad Williams led the field events for CCSU. Berube tied for fourth place in the high jump, recording a height of 1.91 meters. He also took ninth in the long jump with a distance of 6.48 meters. Williams placed sixth in the shot put (12.96 meters) and took seventh in the weight throw (14.09 meters).
Sophomore Nick Trifone recorded the same mark as Berube in the high jump, 1.91 meters, but placed seventh due to faults. Freshman Keith Boyd-Carter and junior Eric Rathbun were the only other Blue Devils to place in the top 10 in the field on Saturday. Boyd-Carter took fourth place in the triple jump, recording a distance of 12.66 meters. Rathbun was less than a meter behind him, jumping 11.87 meters to place seventh in the triple jump.
A trio of underclassmen were the only Blue Devils other than Radden to place on the track. Freshman Craig Hunt and sophomore Sam Alexander both competed in the 3,000 meter run Saturday. Hunt placed seventh in 8:49.17, while Alexander took ninth in a time of 8:53.32. Sophomore Dan Watson rounds out the CCSU top 10 finishers. He recorded a time of 2:00.71 to place seventh in the 800 meters.
Central Connecticut will be back in action on Saturday, January 16 when the Blue Devils compete in the Sorlein Invitational at the University of Rhode Island.
