Freshman Aaron Radden broke the indoor track school record in
the 200 meter dash, as Central Connecticut State University placed
ninth out of 18 scoring teams at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games
Friday night. Radden won the event in a time of 22.03 seconds,
breaking the previous CCSU best by two hundredths of a second. Sean
Smith was the previous record holder, at 22.05 seconds, which
he set in 2008.
Radden also placed third in the 55 meter dash, recording a time of 6.51 seconds. The Blue Devils got the rest of their scoring from four runners on Friday, highlighted by sophomore Sam Alexander's 5,000 meter time of 15:01.83. He placed fourth in the event.
Freshman Mohamed Hrezi, junior Shawn Buchanan and sophomore Dan Watson also placed in the top eight for Central Connecticut. Hrezi took sixth in the one mile run, crossing the line in 4:18.31, while Buchanan recorded a time of 1:07.05 to finish the 500 meters in seventh. Watson placed eight in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.53.
Central Connecticut scored 30 points in the meet to place ninth. New Hampshire won the meet with 95.5 points, while Northeastern and Maine finished in second and third with 90 and 87 points, respectively.
The Blue Devils will next compete at the Giegengack Invitational on the campus of Yale University February 5 and 6.
