Radden Earns First NEC Track Award of the Season

Freshman Aaron Radden garnered the first Road Runner Sports/Northeast Conference track and field honor of the season. Radden was named Rookie of the Week by the conference on Tuesday for his performance at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games this past weekend.

He broke the indoor track school record in the 200 meter dash Boston Indoor Games Friday night. Radden won the event in a time of 22.03 seconds, breaking the previous CCSU best by two hundredths of a second. Sean Smith was the previous record holder, at 22.05 seconds, which he set in 2008. Radden also moved up to third place on the NEC performance list with his 200 meter performance.

The first-year Blue Devil nearly qualified for the IC4A Championships in a second event, but came up .03 shy in the 55-meter dash. His time of 6.51 seconds earned him a bronze medal at the meet.

Central Connecticut will next compete at the Giegengack Inviational on the campus of Yale University this Friday and Saturday.
