The Central Connecticut men's track team finished sixth at the Albany Great Dane Classic on Friday night. The sixth place tie was with Villanova. The Blue Devils posted a team score of 45.5 at the meet. The University of Connecticut finished first with a total of 123 points.
Junior Aaron Radden led the Blue Devil squad with a pair of top-five finishes. Radden captured second place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.55. He followed that with a 6.85 second time and a fourth place finish in the 60 meter dash finals.
Sophomore Nick Lindblom broke his own school-record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.48, he finished second. Sophomore Ryan Budd (1:07.37) and junior Dan Hopper (1:07.39) finished 20th and 21st respectively in the 500m.
In the field events, senior Rashad Williams finished in the top-10 in both throwing events. Williams tossed the shot 16.38 meters to earn a fourth place finish. He finished eighth in the weight throw with a best mark of 16.18 meters. Junior Kieth Boyd-Carter claimed the 19th seat in the triple jump posting a distance of 12.73m.
Senior Sam Alexander and junior Craig Hunt finished third and fifth, respectively, in the 3,000 meter run. Alexander posted a time of 8:21.50 and Hunt a 8:24.29 mark. Alexander's time broke his own school-record.
Junior Colby Delbene earned a fifth place finish in the one-mile run with his 4:12.62 performance. Central's relay events were led by Lindblom, Budd, Hopper, and freshman Jamal Fruster in the 4x400m relay. The group was tabbed 12th with a time of 3:24.53.
The Blue Devils will be back in action on January 28th as they travel to the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, MA to compete in the Boston Indoor Games.
