Men's Track & Field Tie For 3rd at NEC's

The Central Connecticut men's track & field team posted 108 points in a third place tie at the Northeast Conference Championships this weekend.  Central and Long Island both locked up the third place tie.  Monmouth placed first followed by runner-up Sacred Heart.  The two day meet was held at Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex in Landover, MD.

Junior Aaron Radden led the Blue Devils by capturing an individual championship in the 200m with a time of 21.74.  Radden also placed second in the 60m (6.93).

Winning another Blue Devil individual championship was junior Colby Delbene.  He claimed victory in the one mile running the event in an impressive time of 4:13.08.

Senior Sam Alexander gathered a pair of runner-up finishes, both in the 3,000m finishing in 8:24.95 and the 5,000m (14:51.23).  Sophomore Craig Hunt trailed Alexander in the 3,000m and 5,000m events placing fourth (8:30.30) and third (14:51.49) respectively.

A trio of Blue Devils, sophomore Nick Lindblom, junior Dan Hopper, and freshman Jamal Fruster, each contended in the 400m.  Lindblom placed third (50.44), Hopper fourth (50.44), and Fruster sixth (50.55).  Lindblom also chalked up a fifth place finish in the 60m hurdles (8.46).

Sophomore Joey Farrington finished sixth in the 500m with a time of 1:07.07.  Senior Michael Waterbury ran the 800m placing eighth (2:04.17).

In the field, senior Rashad Williams paced the Blue Devils with a third place finish in the shot put (16.19m) and a fourth place finish in the weight throw (16.20m).  Senior Nick Trifone came away with a fourth place finish in the high jump (1.96m) and freshman Greg Andrade placed eighth (1.91).

Central will return to competition on February 24th and 25th at the New England Championships in Boston, MA.
