The Central Connecticut men's track and field team competed Saturday in day two of the 2013 IC4A/ECAC Championships in Boston, MA. Senior Aaron Radden qualified to advance to tomorrow's final competition in both the 60 meter and the 200 meter dash.
The Blue Devils did not compete in any of the events of day one.
Radden ran a 6.91 in the 60m preliminaries to tie for sixth place. His time was one tenth of a second shy of his career best and CCSU record. In the 200 meter dash, Radden placed eighth in the field with a time of 21.35 to qualify for tomorrow's final competition.
The Blue Devil 4x400 meter relay team ran a time of 3:17.15 to break the all-time CCSU record of 3:18.00 set in 2001. The team, consisting of seniors Dan Hopper, Nick Lindblom, junior Ryan Budd and sophomore Jamal Fruster, placed 20th in the event.
Fruster also competed in the 400 meter dash racing a time of 49.71 for 26th place.
Other notable performances at the championships include freshman Malcolm Connor, who placed 24th in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:05.27 and sophomore Brian Biekert, who ran a 4:09.74 in the one mile for 17th. Biekert currently holds the CCSU record in the event.
In addition to the IC4A/ECACs, the Blue Devils were represented at the USA Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque, NM. Freshman and CCSU record-holder, Joseph Gioielli ran the 800 meter preliminary race in a time of 1:54.31 for 16th place overall.
