Biekert Breaks 1,500m Record Set in 1964

Four Blue Devils represented CCSU at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday hosted by Bucknell University. Junior Brian Biekert broke the Central program record in the 1,500m run with his time of 3:45.28.

Biekert's time bests the previous CCSU program record of 3:46.40 set 50 years ago, in 1964, by Jim Keefe. Biekert also surpassed the IC4A Championship qualifying standard (1:51.00) with his fourth-place finish in the field of 40 runners.

Juniors Patrick Hubbell, Matt Walker and Andrew Hill also represented CCSU at Bucknell, each posting a career-best time in his event.

Hubbell placed fourth in the 5,000m run with his IC4A qualifying time of 14:29.48.

Walker and Hill each competed in the 10,000m. Walker finished 11th overall with his time of 30:35.42. His time surpasses the IC4A standard of 31:08.00. Walker was followed by classmate Hill who placed 25th, also qualifying for IC4A competition with his time of 30:53.76.

The Blue Devils are scheduled to return to action this Friday, April 18 when they travel to Princeton for two days of competition.
