Willis Sets School Javelin Mark, Men's Track Competes at Northeast Challenge at UConn

The Central Connecticut men's track and field team completed a busy weekend with a trip to the Northeast Challenge at the University of Connecticut on Saturday.

Senior Jeremy Willis highlighted the day by breaking the school record in the javelin with a throw of 62.52 meters.  He finished third in the event.

Freshman Marquis Ward was third in the high jump with a height of 1.88 meters.  Classmate Kevorni Welsh tied for fifth place, also with a height of 1.88 meters.  

Sophomore Kyle Welch finished seventh in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:19.60.

Sophomore Edwin Alston, who broke his own school record in the 110 meter hurdles a week ago, ran the event in 14.56 to finish second on Saturday.  Sophomore Quincy Sanchez was seventh in a time of 14.93.

Senior Zach Andrews was third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.30.

Freshman Jonathan Gill ran 1:55.44 in the 800 meter run to finish in third place.  Classmate Julio Arredondo was eighth in the same event with a time of 1:56.40.

Sophomore Franklin Bartley finished sixth in the 400 meter hurdles in 56.16.

In the 5,000 meter run junior Eric Davidson finished sixth in a time of 15:45.17.
