Eric Blake Finishes Second at Annual Mount Washington Road Race
It's become an annual ritual for head men's track and cross country coach Eric Blake. The Mount Washington Road Race, a 7.6 mile race straight up Mount Washington in New Hampshire, celebrated its 50th anniversary last Saturday, June 19, and Blake celebrated with a second place finish. The race is 4,650 vertical feet from start to finish. Blake's second place finish is his fifth top-two finish in the last six years (he did not run in 2007). His time of 1:00:40 was one second behind his best time at the annual race. His finish qualifies him as a member of Team USA at the World Mountain Running Championships in Slovenia on Sept. 5.

Men's Cross Country Receives Northeast Conference Sportsmanship Award
The Central Connecticut State University men's cross country team received the Northeast Conference Team Sportsmanship #$%^Award as announced by NEC Interim Commissioner Ron Ratner this afternoon. This honor comes on the heels of CCSU winning #$%^its first ever NEC Men's Cross Country Championship this fall.

Men's Cross Country Finishes Season at IC4As
The Central Connecticut State University men's cross country team finished its 2009 campaign at the IC4A Championships University Race on Saturday in Bronx, NY. The Blue Devils placed ninth out of 24 teams in competition at Van Cortlandt Park. Sophomore Sam Alexander was the top finisher for CCSU, placing 16th overall in a time of 26:19.2 on the eight kilometer course.

Hunt Leads CCSU at Cross Country Regionals
Craig Hunt was the top finisher for the Blue Devils as Central Connecticut State University finished 25th out of 36 teams in competition at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships this afternoon. The freshman placed 93rd in a time of 33:47 on the six kilometer course in Boston, MA.

Men's Cross Country Wins Northeast Conference Championship
The Central Connecticut State University men's cross country team placed three runners in the top 10 and won its first Northeast Conference Championship at Quinnipiac University on Saturday morning. Sophomore Sam Alexander led the way for the Blue Devils, placing fourth overall in a time of 26:23.9 on the five mile course in Hamden, CT. Sophomore Jeremy Schmid and freshman Craig Hunt took sixth and seventh place, crossing the line in 26:38.6 and 26:39.5, respectively.

Hunt Named Road Runner Sports/Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week
Craig Hunt received his second Road Runner Sports/Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honor for his performance at the CCSU Mini Meet this weekend. The freshman led CCSU for the first time in his career, as he placed fourth out of 104 runners at the five kilometer race on Saturday.

Hunt Leads Blue Devils to Second Place at CCSU Mini Meet
Freshman Craig Hunt was the top finisher for the Blue Devils for the first time in his career, as the Central Connecticut State University men's cross country team placed second out of 11 teams at the CCSU Mini Meet on Saturday morning. Hunt took fourth place overall, crossing the line in 15:19.08 on the five kilometer course at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain.

Men's Cross Country Competes at New England Championships
The Central Connecticut State University men's cross country team placed 16th out of 47 teams in competition at the New England Championships on Saturday. Sophomore Sam Alexander led the Blue Devils, placing 32nd with a time of 25:26 on the eight kilometer course at Franklin Park in Boston, MA.

CCSU Men's Cross Country Places 2nd at Ted Owen Invite
Sophomore Jeremy Schmid and freshman Mohammed Hrezi finished in sixth and seventh, respectively, to pace the Central Connecticut State University men's cross country team to a second place finish as hosts of the Ted Owen Invitational on Saturday morning.

CCSU Takes 2nd at Quinnipiac Invitational
Sophomore Sam Alexander and freshman Craig Hunt placed third and sixth overall, as the Central Connecticut State University men's cross country team took second out of 11 teams at the Quinnipiac Invitational on Saturday. Alexander finished the eight kilometer course in 26 minutes and 5.1 seconds, just under 13 seconds behind Monmouth's Pete Forgach.

Alexander and Hunt Earn Weekly Honors
Sophomore Sam Alexander and freshman Craig Hunt received a pair of Northeast Conference weekly honors for their performances at the Blue Devil Invitational on Saturday. Alexander was named Road Runner Sports/NEC Co-Athlete of the Week, while Hunt garnered Rookie of the Week honors. It marks the first time either athlete has received accolades from the conference.

Sam Alexander Wins Blue Devil Invitational
Sophomore Sam Alexander had to all out sprint the final 200 meters to edge out Holy Cross senior Timothy Richard for the 21st annual Blue Devil Invitational individual championship on Saturday. Alexander finished just a tenth of a second ahead of Richard, finishing the eight kilometer course at Stanley Quarter Park in a time of 26 minutes and 14.62 seconds. CCSU placed second in the team results, falling to Brown by one point, 44-45.

Men's Cross Country Picked to Finish Seventh In Northeast Conference Poll
The Central Connecticut State University men's cross country team was picked to finish seventh in the Northeast Conference #$%^Coaches' Poll, released today. Led by Ry Sanderson's third place finish, the Blue Devils placed seventh at last season's NEC #$%^Championship meet. Sanderson, a senior in 2009, will look to improve upon CCSU's performance from a year ago.
