Craig Hunt was the top finisher for the Blue Devils as Central Connecticut State University finished 25th out of 36 teams in competition at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships this afternoon. The freshman placed 93rd in a time of 33:47 on the six kilometer course in Boston, MA.
CCSU recorded a score 666, finishing just behind Manhattan (655) and one spot ahead of Holy Cross (696). Syracuse won the meet, totaling only 55 points. The Orange put five runners in the top 20 overall to narrowly beat Iona, who finished with 59 points. The Gaels' Ryan Sheridan won the individual championship, recording a time of 30:36.
CCSU's top runner at the Northeast Conference meet, sophomore Sam Alexander, lost his shoe about half way through the race and did not finish. It was sophomore Jeremy Schmid as the second Blue Devil to finish on Saturday. He placed 107th, crossing the line in 34:02. Freshmen Josh Trares (132nd; 34:25), Mohamed Hrezi (156th; 34:57) and John Krell (178th; 35:25) rounded out the scorers for CCSU. Senior Robert Weston (192nd; 35:51) was the only other Blue Devil to compete in the meet.
