The Central Connecticut men's cross country team placed three runners in the top-14 and finished third at the New England Championships held on Saturday. The Blue Devils finished behind only Dartmouth and Boston University in the 4.95 mile race held at Frankling Park in Boston, MA.
The Blue Devils were led by senior Ry Sanderson who finished fourth in a time of 24:33. Sanderson's time was only 25 seconds off the pace set by winner Glarius Rop of American International College. Junior Sam Alexander was the next Blue Devil to cross the tape, finishing 11th with a time of 24:48. Sophomore Craig Hunt was the third Blue Devil to finish in the top-15, finishing fourteenth with a time of 24:58.
Sanderson, Alexander, and Hunt received All-New England honors for their performances in the meet.
Sophomore Jon Krell posted a time of 25:44 to place 55th and sophomore Mohamed Hrezi finished 102nd with a time of 26:13 to finish off the scoring for the Blue Devils. Jeremy Schmid and Robert Weston were the final two Blue Devils running 26:33 and 26:39, respectively.
Central finished with 186 points, falling to Dartmouth by 48 points.
The Blue Devils will return to action in two weeks at the CCSU Mini Meet, before hosting the NEC Championships on October 30th.
