Junior John Krell of the Central Connecticut men’s cross country team took the top spot finishing first of 47 runners at the Blue Devil Invitational on Friday afternoon. Three of the Blue Devil runners finished in the top 10 at the meet. Senior Anthony Gonsalves took the sixth spot finishing with a time of 27:17 and Sophomore Andrew Hill finished in eighth place with a time of 27:20.
The Central Connecticut men’s cross country team was selected as the preseason favorite in the annual poll of the Northeast Conference’s coaches. This is the second consecutive year that the Blue Devils are the top ranked team in the preseason. Last year the Blue Devils captured their second consecutive NEC title after being selected as the favorite.
Central Connecticut head men's and women's cross country and track coach Eric Blake finished ninth at the 2011 Mount Washington Road Race held on Saturday. Blake posted a time of 1:06:53 in the 7.6 mile race up Mount Washington in New Hampshire.
Central Connecticut's Eric Blake will be competing in his seventh Mt. Washington Road Race on Saturday June 18. The head coach of Central's men's and women's cross country and track programs, Blake is a two-time champion of the event which takes place on the famous Mt. Washington Auto Road, in Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire. Blake was the runner-up at the event last year and is a two-time champion of the race.
