The Central Connecticut men's cross country team finished sixth out of 14 teams at the Monmouth Invitational. The Blue Devils posted a team score of 145 points. Junior Craig Hunt captured the individual title with a time of 26:21.0.
Finishing third overall was junior John Krell. Krell was named Northeast Conference Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Blue Devil Invitational two weeks ago, and he followed that up with a time of 26:31.8 and a third place finish in the 8K race.
Senior Ben Lazarus was the third Blue Devil to cross the line. He finished 40th with a time of 28:06.1. Close behind him was freshman Patrick Hubbell who posted a 28:21.01 mark in 46th place. Completing the Central's score was junior Mike Waterbury who finished 63rd with a time of 28:52.1.
The MU Invitational was held on the 8K course in Holmdel, NJ. That venue will be the sight of the 2011 Northeast Conference Cross Country Championships.
East Stroudsburg University captured the team victory with a low score of 63. They were followed closely by Sacred Heart, Mount St. Mary's, Monmouth and St. Francis (NY). Central was sixth followed by Wagner and Quinnipiac. NEC foes Robert Morris, Bryant and Fairleigh Dickinson also competed in the race.
The Blue Devils will be at home next Saturday to host the Ted Owen Invitational at Stanley Quarter Park.
