Men's XC Takes Second in Mini Meet
Junior Colby Delbene took an early lead and finished first with a time of 15:23.
The Central Connecticut men's cross country team took second place at the CCSU Mini Meet on Saturday at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils were led by junior Colby Delbene who finished first in the 5K in 15:23, over ten seconds before his nearest competitor.
Delbene was followed by classmate Andrew Hill who finished 10th out of 115 participants with a time of 55:53. Freshman Tyler Raymond finished the race in 23rd place with a time of 16:13 and was followed just seven seconds later by classmate David Scheibenpflug (29th) with a time of 16:20. Sophomore Patrick Hubbell rounded out the scoring for the Blue Devils coming in 32nd place just three seconds later.
Senior Mike Waterbury and freshman Malcolm Connor also competed in the race for the Blue Devils finishing in 16:48 and 17:23, respectively.
Yale took first in the meet featuring five runners in the top 10. In third was Hardford, followed by Boston University, Providence College, New Hampshire, Bryant, Marist, Fairleigh Dickinson and Sacred Heart. Eastern Connecticut and Salve Regina rounded out the 12 team field.
The Blue Devils, defending Northeast Conference champions, return to action for the NEC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Bryant University in Smithfield, RI. The men's race will begin at 12 p.m.
