Men's XC 17th at NCAA Regionals
The CCSU men's cross country team was led by junior Colby Delbene who finished the 10K in 30th.
The Central Connecticut men's cross country team finished 17th out of 34 teams at the NCAA Regional Championships on Friday hosted by Yale University and Fairfield University at Hammonassett State Park in Madison, CT. The team completed the 10K race earning 492 points and was led by junior Colby Delbene, who placed 30th overall with a time of 31:09.5.
Iona won the title with a score of 45 and Columbia, Syracuse, Dartmouth and Providence rounded out the top five teams in the race.
Delbene was followed by junior Andrew Hill who placed 91st with a time of 32.10.0. Sophomore Patrick Hubbell came in 114th, crossing the finish line in 32.38.6 and was followed just five seconds later by classmate Brian Biekert who placed 124th. Redshirt freshman Matt Walker completed the scoring for the Blue Devils. He crossed the finish line in 33:02.1 for 147th place.
Also competing in the race for Central were freshmen Tyler Raymond (167th) and David Scheibenpflug (174th) who posted times of 33:27.0 and 33:39.2, respectively.
The top five team scores were Iona (45), Columbia (72), Syracuse (73), Dartmouth (144) and Providence (154). CCSU was the highest scoring NEC team with Quinnipiac finishing in 23rd with 620 points and Sacred Heart earning 926 points, good for 32nd place.
The NCAA Regional Championships wraps up a successful season for the Blue Devils, who earned their fourth consecutive NEC Cross Country Championship on Saturday, Oct. 27.
