The Central Connecticut softball team finished their 2011 fall schedule with their annual faculty/staff and alumni games. The Blue Devils posted a 7-1 record over eight intercollegiate games this fall. The schedule included games against Southern Connecticut, Yale, Hofstra, Molloy College, Post and New Haven.
"We had a fantastic fall season, anytime you can go 7-1 in the fall you know that things are going well," Coach Jeff Franquet said. "We have worked extremely hard to this point, and the results show it. This team has the ability to be really special in the spring if we keep working hard the next couple of months."
9/25/11 – The Blue Devils took a pair of games from Southern Connecticut to open the fall schedule. Sophomore Arielle Bruno and freshman Kat Malcolm were two-for-seven on the day, while senior Sarah Vlahos was two-for-five and junior Macy Stefanski was three-for-five. On the mound junior Jordan Tingley earned a 3-0 victory in game one and freshman Laura Messina got the victory in game two, 5-0.

She was joined by Bruno's four-for-eight performance and three hit days from Malcolm, junior Kelsey Barlow and freshman Alyssa McCoart. Tingley and Messina each earned a victory on the mound.
10/8/11 – At the CCSU Fall Tournament, Messina pitched a perfect game into the seventh inning against Yale. Although Yale broke-up the perfect game and tied the score at 1-1 in the seventh, Messina stayed in an earned the victory as Central won 2-1 in the ninth. Springer earned the victory in the game against New Haven, allowing only two runs. The Central offense pounded out 11 runs; with the help of two hits apiece form Bruno and Brown. Brown finished the doubleheader four-for-nine at the plate.
10/15/11 – At the Hofstra Tournament, TIngley picked up a 2-1 victory against Molloy College in game one. Bruno led the offense going two-for-three at the plate with a run scored. The Blue Devils suffered their only loss of the fall in game two, dropping a 5-4 decision to Hofstra. Central led 4-2, before surrendering three unanswered runs. Malcom was two-for-three with a triple in the game and senior Becca Mussatti finished three-for-five on the day.
The fall concluded this past weekend with some fun. First, the Blue Devils took on the faculty and staff and then the current roster faced off with a team of alumni.
The Blue Devils will begin their spring schedule on February 24, when they travel to 2011 NCAA Champion Arizona State for a three game series.
