CCSU Opens NCAA Tournament vs. Georgia Today, 5 PM

The Central Connecticut softball team plays No. 14 ranked Georgia today at 5 p.m. in the second game of the Athens Regional of the 2015 NCAA Division I Softball Championship Tournament. It will be aired live on the SEC Network +. The Blue Devils (31-12) and Bulldogs (40-14) have never met before in the history of the two programs.

Georgia is the host team of the four-team, double elimination regional, which also includes North Carolina and Western Kentucky, who will play in the first game at Jack Turner Stadium at 2:30 p.m. The winner of the regional will advance on to the Super Regionals, May 21-24.

The Blue Devils are making their second NCAA Tournament appearance in the history of the program this weekend and the second in the past three years, with the first coming in 2013. That year they traveled to the Baton Rouge Regional (LSU) and won their first ever NCAA Tournament game with a 9-1 win over Northwestern State.
