The Central Connecticut women's basketball team fell on the road to Quinnipiac on Saturday afternoon. Quinnipiac's Felicia Barron hit a three point shot at the buzzer to give the Bobcats the 76-75 victory. The Blue Devils fall to 8-7 on the season and 1-4 in Northeast Conference action. Quinnipiac improves to 4-1 in conference play.
The Blue Devils started fast with a pair of Leanne Crockett three pointers pushing the Blue Devils to a 11-7 lead early in the first. Crockett had 10 points and 6 rebounds in the half to lead the Blue Devils. Senior Kerrianne Dugan added in another seven points, while Justina Udenze dropped in six. The Blue Devils went to the break trailing the Bobcats 38-37, in large part because of Courtney Kaminski's 13 first half points.
In the second half the Blue Devils and Bobcats traded leads, in all the two teams traded control of the scoreboard 15 times. Quinnipiac's Kaminski scored a game-high 32 points, Crockett led the Blue Devils with 19 points, including nine in the second half.
A pair of free throws from sophomore Jameilia Dillon put the Blue Devils ahead 75-71 with 47 seconds remaining in the game. With six seconds left in the game Barron grabbed the rebound off of Crockett's missed free throw, dribbled the court and launched a buzzer beating three pointer that gave the Bobcats the victory.
Crockett led the Blue Devils with 19 points, Dugan and Udenze each added 13. Crockett had a game-high nine rebounds and Dugan made four assists for Central.
The Blue Devils return to action on the road at Sacred Heart on Monday night.
