Central Connecticut senior Justina Udenze was named Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. The Blue Devil center has been dominating the NEC over the last six games and she continued that trend this weekend, totaling 42 points over two games.
On Saturday the Blue Devils took center stage against the Long Island Blackbirds in a NEC showdown that was televised live across the region. Udenze dominated, posting a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds. She shot 50% from the field in the game, hitting 9-18 shots.
In the Blue Devils second stop in Brooklyn Udenze just missed a second double-double. She hit 11-18 shots from the floor as she scored 23 points. She also grabbed nine rebounds in the game
In the past six games Udenze has scored 29, 17, 12, 23, 19, and 23, over that span she is averaging 20.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, she has also accounted for five assists, four steals, and three blocks.
She is averaging 11.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest and has posted all three of her 20-plus point performance came in the month of February.
Udenze is the second Blue Devil to received the Player of the Week Award this season, senior Kerrianne Dugan earned the honor on December, 20th.
The Blue Devils travel to Sacred Heart for the opening round of the NEC Tournament on Saturday.
