Central Connecticut senior Justina Udenze was named to the Northeast Conference All-Tournament Team on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devil center had 31 points and 19 rebounds in the NEC Tournament. The two games wrapped up a late season run for Udenze in which she averaged 19.25 points over an eight game stretch.
Up first for the Blue Devils in the NEC Tournament was Sacred Heart. After scoring five points in the first half Udenze exploded for 10 second half points as the Blue Devils topped Sacred Heart 54-49. Udenze finished the game with 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal.
Central fell to top seeded St. Francis in the semifinals, but Udenze continued to play well. She posted a double-double scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. It was Udenze's free throws in the final minutes that cut the Red Flash's lead to only four points.
Udenze averaged 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in the NEC Tournament. She is joined on the All-Tournament team by Brittany Lilley of St. Francis, Samantha Leach of St. Francis, Abby Martin of Monmouth, and Yohanna Morton of Robert Morris.
Udenze scored 313 points this year for the Blue Devils with 154 of them coming in her final eight games. Udenze's run helped push the Blue Devils to a sixth place finish in the regular season. Her team was 6-2 during her eight game hot streak, as Central reached the NEC Semifinals for the third consecutive season.
