The Central Connecticut women's basketball team will host Saint Francis U on Monday night at Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils (6-5, 0-1 NEC) and Red Flash (2-10, 0-1 NEC) are both looking for their first Northeast Conference victory of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Today • The Blue Devils (6-5, 0-1 NEC) host Saint Francis U (2-10, 0-1 NEC) in their second Northeast Conference game of the season. Both teams dropped close opening contests on Saturday. The Blue Devils fell to Robert Morris, 61-59, on a late three-pointer, while the Red Flash were edged, 95-88, by Sacred Heart in a high scoring affair. Both team's are looking to avoid an 0-2 start to NEC play.
Up Next • The Blue Devils will travel to Wagner and LIU Brooklyn next weekend. CCSU will then host Fairleigh Dickinson on Jan. 18 before visiting Sacred Heart on Monday, Jan. 20.
Series History • Saint Francis U holds a 22-8 advantage in the all-time Division I series between these programs Last season the Blue Devils and Red Flash met three times with the home team winning each meeting. SFU won the first meeting 67-62, CCSU won the second meeting 76-71 and the Red Flash grabbed the third meeting - in the NEC Tournament - 66-63. The combined score of the three contests was 204-201 in favor of the Flash.
NEC Opener • The Blue Devils led by as many as 21 points, but the Robert Morris Colonials battled back to win the game on a three-pointer with six seconds remaining. RMU captured the game 61-59, a three-pointer by sophomore Nicole Ferguson with 26 seconds left gave the Blue Devils a 59-58 lead over the Colonials. Seniors Jessica Babe (15) and Lauren Arbogast (13) as well as junior Kaley Watras (12) all scored in double-digits for CCSU. Artemis Spanou had 25 points and 16 rebounds for RMU.
Close Games at Home • The Blue Devils have played five home games this season and three have had the game -winning points scored with less than seven seconds remaining. On Nov. 20, against New Hampshire, senior Lauren Arbogast hit a free throw with one second on the clock to give CCSU a 53-52 lead. Then on Dec. 30, against Hofstra, sophomore Nicole Ferguson hit a buzzer-beater to sink the Pride 64-62. Finally, on Saturday, Jan. 4, in the NEC opener against Robert Morris, the Colonials hit a three with six seconds left to win the game. The Blue Devils also had a three-point loss to Rider on Dec. 21, giving the Blue Devils a 2-2 record in games decided by three or fewer points.
